A Great Basketball Moment from the National Basketball Association
Finals
In terms of magic moments, the 1997 Finals between the Bulls and the
Jazz was among the most memorable in NBA history. Chicago's quest for
a fifth title was contested by a Utah team, led by the duo of John
Stockton and Karl Malone, that was playing in the NBA Finals for the
first time. The result? A spate of incredible plays from the expected
heroes (Michael Jordan, Stockton, Malone) and the unexpected (Steve
Kerr).
Basketball Hall of Fame
This is a list of inductees into the Basketball Hall of Fame,
located in Springfield, Massachusetts. All men and women who the hall
deems worthy are voted in. They include NBA and NCAA Basketball
Players, basketball coaches and other people who, in one way or
another, have contributed in a very special way to the history of
basketball.
National Basketball Association's Mr. Clutch
With another postseason of heroics to add to his resume, Reggie
Miller, Indiana's sharp shooting guard joined Michael Jordan at the
head of the class among great pressure performers in recent NBA
history.
Miller had provided one of basketball's best dramas four years
earlier, when he led the Pacers past New York at Madison Square
Garden.
Basketball?s Original ?Dream Team?
The original Dream Team, the U.S. basketball team that won the gold
medal at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, was a phenomenon on and off
the court. It mattered not that it dominated the Olympic competition,
beating its eight opponents by an average of 44 points. What was
important was that the Dream Team, the first U.S. Olympic team to
include NBA stars, gave fans a glimpse of basketball at its finest,
and an entire world responded.
Game 6 of the National Basketball Association Finals on The Line
With Game 6 of the NBA Finals on the line, everyone in the Delta
Center -- Utah Jazz coaches and Basketball Players included -- knew
the ball would end up in his hands. For the Chicago Bulls, too, it was
another no-brainer. There was no play to call, no screens to set. It
was simple: Get it to '23'. That Michael Jordan is the go-to guy in
the last seconds of any close Bulls game is the worst secret in
basketball -- and still it makes no difference.

National Basketball Association Playoff Buzzer Beaters
Rex Chapman. Eddie Johnson. John Stockton. All were smart, seasoned
veterans, but none was designated the "go-to" Basektball Player on his
respective team. With the game on the line, however, all three
Basektball Players delivered buzzer-beaters that made the 1997
postseason a memorable one in the Western Conference Playoffs.
One of Basketball?s Greatest Moments from the NBA?s Greatest
Basketball Player
The opening basketball game of the 1992 NBA Finals turned out to be
a tale of two games, and in both scenarios it was the worst of times
for the Trail Blazers to try to contain Michael Jordan. The first
"game within the game" took place over the first 18 minutes as
Portland, which shot 68 percent from the field in the first quarter,
battled the Bulls basket for basket and trailed 45-44 with 6:34 to go
in the second quarter.
The 13 Original Rules of Basketball
Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian from Almonte, Ontario, invented
basketball in 1891 while living in Massachusetts (USA). He was
teaching a physical education class at an international YMCA training
school in Springfield, Massachusetts (USA) and needed to come up with
a new indoor sports activity. He came up with basketball. There were
13 original rules. The hoop was a peach basket. The majority of
Basektball Players in the first-ever game of basketball at that YMCA
were from Canada.
The Greatest Basketball Team in NBA History
The honor of being recognized as "the greatest team in NBA history" is
one basketball fans can debate endlessly, but supporters of the
1995-96 Chicago Bulls can point to one objective yardstick in making
their case.
